Our goal is to create a high quality, sharp reproduction of your artwork. To meet this goal we require your artwork in a format that is suitable to our engraving equipment. Acceptable file formats are:
Engravable artwork must be vector based images (drawings) as opposed to raster based (bitmaps/jpeg’s) images. While the shape and color of a bitmap image appears smooth from a distance, when viewed up close you can see the tiny individual squares and dots (pixels) that make up the image. Vector drawings are made up of objects, consisting of smooth lines and continuous colors, and are resolution independent. When viewed up close or from a distance, vector drawings appear as smooth clean lines and edges. The following diagram illustrates the difference between vector and raster based images:
